LABADIE - We are proud to announce the graduation of Shawna Labadie from the Juris Doctor program at the University of Windsor Faculty of Law on June 13, 2014. In her first year Shawna earned the CCH Prize for Legal Writing with the highest achievement in Legal Research and Writing. In 2012 she received the Sharon White-Ducharme Memorial Award for her interest and achievement in family law. During the summer of 2013 Shawna had the privilege of clerking for the Honorable Mr. Justice Douglas Phillips at the Ontario Court of Justice. Throughout her time in the Faculty of Law Shawna was involved with many projects designed to improve access to legal education for under-represented populations including the Equity and Diversity Committee and various aboriginal recruitment initiatives. In 2013 Shawna received the Leroy Freeman Altiman Memorial Award and a Law Society of Upper Canada Education Equity Award. Throughout both her Social Work and Juris Doctor degrees Shawna was dedicated to issues of poverty demonstrated through her commitment to the poverty clinic Legal Assistance of Windsor. In her final semester Shawna received the Rose Voyvodic Memorial Award for student involvement in Legal Assistance of Windsor. As a result of her participation with multiple human service organizations Shawna graduated receiving the Faculty of Law Community Service Award in Memory of Reinhart Lehman. Shawna will be completing her articles with Greg Monforton and Partners beginning in July 2014. Shawna also successfully completed her Barristers and Solicitors exams and will be called to the bar in June 2015. Shawna is the daughter of Pete and Chris Wolfe (nee Swain) and Dennis Labadie & Judy Ashley. Congratulations Shawna, we are so proud of you!12825257
