Stanley John Smith

SMITH, Stanley John - December 10, 1922 - December 12, 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stanley (96) Wednesday, December 12th at his residence. Predeceased by his loving wife Euphemia in 1994 and also his son Harold in 1988. Stanley is survived by his daughters Marjorie (at home), Janet (of Blenheim) and his special granddaughter Bonnie (of Kitchener). Born in Little Treviscoe, Cornwall England, he came to Canada in 1947 seeking a better life. He moved from Kirkland Lake to Elliot Lake in 1955 to work as an electrician at the mines until his retirement. He continued to do electrical work for friends and neighbors for many years. Stanley spent his later life travelling to many great places with daughter Marjorie. A celebration of his life was held at his Masonic Lodge in Elliot Lake. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Elliot Lake Library would be appreciated by his family. Funeral arrangements entrusted to ALTERNATIVE FUNERAL SERVICES. 13317415

We were privileged to get to know John better when he did some electrical work for us, in his mid eighties.

His high energy level, positive attitude and thoughtful approach to life was such an inspiration.

It has been wonderful to witness the mutual respect and love between Marjorie and her dad over the years.

All the best to you and the family during this difficult time.

deepest sympathy

Dear Janet and Marjorie, so very sorry to hear about your dad. Although we did not have the opportunity to know him well, we know that he was a great man because he raised a wonderful family.
