Leota (Lee) Ruth (nee Rossiter) Vik

VIK, Leota (Lee) Ruth (nee Rossiter) - September 16, 1931 -March 27, 2016 Mom passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday surrounded by family in Nipawin Hospital. She was born at Leroy, SK where she attended Bright Spot elementary school near the family farm and Watson High School, graduating from Saskatoon Normal School in 1950. During two years teaching at Linton School, near Leroy, she met her husband Norman Vik. They were married on July 16, 1952 and completed their family before moving to Nipawin in 1962. She was active in the United Church, a substitute teacher, often in one of her kid's classrooms, was a charter member of the Nipawin Lion L's club and worked at Davis Rexall Drugs for over thirty years. She had a large mixed garden, baked many loaves of bread and filled many Mason jars. She and Dad travelled, camped, square danced, enjoyed his old time music gigs and built the family cabin at Tobin Lake where after his death, she would spend time with her dog. Her grandchildren were the lights of her life and she attended their hockey, soccer, and ball games, swim meets and dance and music recitals, Cheer competitions, graduations and loved her time with them at the cabin and on road trips. She loved getting together with family, friends and classmates and made regular rounds to visit them. She was an avid curling and figure skating fan, loved playing cards (especially canasta) and games, doing puzzles and socializing with her Princeton Apartment pals. All of "her kids", many relatives and friends and Pineview Nursing Lodge and Nipawin Hospital were gifted with her knitting and she was always there to lend a helping hand to family and friends. She was one of the last three of her generation and she leaves to cherish her, her daughter Norma (Rob Greer), Brilene and Michelle; son Rosslee (Tracy) their three sons Scott (Tiffany) Zayden and Zevyn; Tyson (Corey), Kalem, Logan, Alexis, Lyvia and Ben; Brandon ; son Stacey (Carol) Jessica and Jared, many nieces and nephews and friends. The funeral was held on Saturday April 2 at 10:30 am in Nipawin United Church with Reverend Lorna King officiating. Interment followed at Mabel Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers were her nephews Randy, Rhett and Rahn Martin and Leslie, Wayne and Brian Thoen. Honorary pallbearers were all who shared her life. In lieu of flowers we invite you to donate to Mom's charity of choice, Nipawin Hospital, Box 389, Nipawin, S0E 1E0. My deepest sympathy to family and friends..fond memories from all the years I remember Lee from Davis Rexall Drugs with my Dad and later my brother Barry. We could always have a chat when I would stop into the store.
