Eloise Cain

CAIN, Eloise - November 19, 1931 - July 20, 2016 Eloise Cain was born on November 19, 1931 to Louis and Bertha Vigeant in Colonsay. The youngest of five children, she was raised on the farm and completed Grades 1 - 12 at Colonsay School. After graduation she went to teach at Shell River School and then returned home to Colonsay in 1948 where she worked in a store in Meacham. On November 6, 1951 she married her high school sweetheart, Harvey Cain. Before moving to Nipawin in 1964, they worked the family farm in Colonsay and began raising their four children, Diane, Dwain, Dave and Rick. Eloise and Harvey loved the outdoors and spent so many happy times camping with the family. Her career as a Nurses Aid at the Nipawin hospital brought her great joy. She loved the work, her coworkers and her patients. In her spare time she found great joy cooking, baking and sewing for her family and friends. She was well known for her homemade bread, cinnamon buns and phenomenal noodle soup. Her family have so many Grandma-made favourites. Eloise was predeceased by her mother, Bertha; father, Louis; sisters Florence and Hazel; and brothers Olaf and Art. In 1992 her dear husband, Harvey, passed on peacefully in his sleep and then in 2010 her youngest son Rick. She leaves many people to treasure her memory, including daughter Diane (Dale); sons Dwain, and Dave (Leanne); grandchildren, Colleen, Brett (Raelene), Tyler (Bridget), Janelle (Michael), Melissa (Ray), Chelsea (Nolan), Kyle, Klinton (Miranda), Brandon as well as 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In a note she left us before her passing she said, "To all my dear friends, I feel blessed." We do too Eloise, we are better for knowing you. A memorial service was held on Monday, July 25, 2016 at St. Eugene Roman Catholic Church in Nipawin with Father Milan Sajonas officiating. Interment followed at Mabel Hill Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be made to the Nipawin Hospital. To send online condolences please visit www.coventryfuneralservices.ca.
