Jeannine Vivianne Childs

CHILDS, Jeannine Vivianne - Formerly of Arborfield, late of Martensville, Sk. Jean was born in 1933 near Arborfield, Sk. to Leo & Yvonne Soucy. She attended Treasure School and later the RC Convent in Zenon Park. She was born into a musical family and music remained important all through her life. She spent her youth playing music with her Dad & brother Richard for events all around the area. Jean was a beautiful natural harmony singer. She lived in Vancouver for a time but returned home to marry Jim Childs of Arborfield. They had 7 children, and a wonderful farm life together. Later, she co-owned C & C Variety Store and was a singer and musician in her band "Jean & the Deltones". She hosted a family jamboree every summer for many years at Tobin Lk where the Childs and Soucy families reunited. Jim & Jean loved to travel and spent 18 winters as snowbirds to Nevada. They retired to Martensville, Sk. to be near more family. Jean spent the next years enjoying her hobbies, her home and family. Christmas was her specialty, and she hosted supper 60 years in a row. After we lost Dad, Mom continued on as bravely and independently as possible. She was vigilant about her health but a minor issue was missed and it eventually took the life she enjoyed so fully. She slipped away into the arms of the angels surrounded by her children, as always, on August 29 at only 83 years old. Jean was predeceased by her husband Jim in 2008, her son George in 2015, her parents Leo & Yvonne Soucy of Nipawin, her brothers Richard & Paul. She is survived by her remaining children: Ann Smith, Jay Childs, Cindy Shea (Chris), Ruby Kilfoyle (Sterling Sklapsky), Vivian Childs (Greg Lange) Jimmy Childs (Loretta), daughter-in-law Susan Childs, her brothers Omer (Cheryl) & Lou (Carol), sister-in-law Marguerite Soucy, 11 grand & 5 great-grandchildren, 5 nephews and a niece. A Funeral service was held Sept. 5 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph's Church, 8th St & Broadway in Saskatoon. Donations in lieu may be made to the local SPCA.13096737
