Ernest Aaron Rogers

ROGERS, Ernest Aaron - Passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at the age of 78. He was born to Samuel and Ida on December 15, 1937 at home in the Taylorside district. He took his schooling at the Flett’s Springs School until Grade 8, when he started working for a local farmer. Ernie worked very hard at such a young age to fulfill his life-long dream of being a successful farmer; as a farm hand and for many years building power lines around Saskatchewan. Ernie wed his loving wife Beryl Kilgour on July 17th, 1964. The two raised their family of three children Kevin, Karen, and Kent on the farm. He loved to farm and everyone knew he was happiest developing his homestead, and in recent years farming with his boys. Day or night, year round Ernie could always find work to do. Working in the field, around the yard, or in the shop. Many hours were spent trying to “straighten the creek”, with the creek often winning the battle! He loved children - forever teasing them with his “teeth” falling out, the lack of his thumb (telling them their Mother had bit it off), allowing them to drive farm equipment at much too young of an age, or teaching them how to get “stuck” in the creek or the muddiest part of the field. Ernie was never short of time to spend with his family, and he spent countless hours visiting with his kids and grandkids - because whatever your problem was he would listen and be sure to give his honest opinion! Many cups of coffee were shared with him at the kitchen table - solving the day’s issues and planning the days ahead. His grandchildren loved all the hours spent growing up at the farm - life was best at the farm! He was a simple man, and didn’t require much in material things. His quiet mannerism and never ending work ethic earned him much respect in the eyes of all who knew him. Some of his greatest loves were hockey, farming, and of course tomatoes! Sadly missed by his wife Beryl, Kevin, Karen (Warren) - Wyatt, Dustin, and Kayla, and Kent (Richelle) - Kody, and Kenzie-Rae and numerous other family members. A Family graveside service was held at the Flett’s Springs Cemetery on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Kevin Shiach officiating. Friends so wishing may make memorial contributions to a Charity of One’s Choice. To leave condolences for the Family, please visit the online guestbook at www.fedusiakfuneralchapel.com. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to FEDUSIAK FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, MELFORT. 13123639
