Virginia Adelman

ADELMAN, Virginia - Virginia Alice Jeanette Adelman was born June 19th, 1924 in Beresina, Saskatchewan, the youngest daughter of Jacob and Johanna Dressler. Virginia passed away peacefully at Arborfield Health Centre on March 14th, 2017. Virginia grew up on the Dressler family farm north of Langenburg, SK. She was still quite young when her father passed away and afterwards she spent much of her youth staying with her siblings who were also farming in the Langenberg district. In the fall of 1942, she went by train to stay with her sister Gertrude who was living on a farm south of Snowden, SK. Virginia fell in love with the beauty of the country side and it was there that she met her future husband, John Adelman. They were married on her birthday in June 1943 and their marriage was blessed with three children. They raised their children on the family farm south of Smeaton, SK. Virginia attended St. Paulís Lutheran Church in Snowden then St. Markís Lutheran Church in Choiceland where she was organist for many years and served on the Ladies Aid. Later she attended Zion Lutheran Church in Nipawin after she and John retired from the farm at Smeaton and moved to Nipawin. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, needlework and reading. Her strong faith was the foundation of her life. Virginia was predeceased by her husband John in 1998, brothers: Adolph, Jack, Carl, Martin, Richard, Walter and Waldemar, sisters: Della, Alvina, Hilda, Molly and Gertrude. Virginia leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory, two sons, David (Iris) of Moose Jaw, SK and Timothy of Regina, SK; one daughter Linda (Ralph) Schierling of Martensville, SK; four grandsons, Tarek (Amy) Adelman, Scott (Stacey) Adelman, Mark (Rachelle) Schierling and Kyle (Jenna) Adelman; one granddaughter Andrea (Craig) Rudulier; eleven great grandchildren; one sister Margaret Becker of Edmonton, AB; two sisters in law, Doris Dressler of Steelville, Illinois and Geraldine Adelman of Choiceland, SK; as well as many nephews and nieces. Her gentle nature never wavered despite facing blindness and deafness near the end of her life. She was special to all who knew her and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The funeral service was held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Nipawin, SK with Pastor Randy Fiege officiating. Virginia was laid to rest in Prince Albert Memorial Gardens.
