Alice Vera

VERA, Alice - Alice Vera passed away peacefully after a long illness on Friday, April 7, 2017. She was born to parents Remy Buan and Madeline (Lejan) Buan, in the Loon Lake Hospital. Alice in predeceased by her husband Ted Vera, her parents and her brothers, Art, Paul, Edward, and Daniel. She will be lovingly remembered by her three sons and their spouses, Greg and Sherry, Daryl and Pat and Duane and Cathy and her sister Laurette Gregoire. She will be a treasured memory for her grandchildren, Benjamin, Jamie and Jonathan Hill, Amanda and Matt Vandenbeld and their children, Victoria and Nora, Michael and Heather and their daughter Quinn. Alice's treasure on this earth was her family. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings and cooking amazing meals for all who could join at her table. She loved to garden and took great pride in planting a large one each year. Her dill pickles were amazing and a special treat for family and friends. Alice was a great supporter of her late husband's work as a volunteer with the Melfort Fire Department. Alice worked as a Nurse's Assistant at the Melfort Union Hospital before her marriage to Ted and carried on her passion for caring for others in hospital and in care homes by her faithful visits. Alice and Ted enjoyed travelling together in their motor home and had many great adventures with dear friends Helen and Soren Sorenson and many other Melfort Snowbirds who gathered in Arizona each winter. In their retirement years, Alice and Ted enjoyed hosting gatherings at their farm north of Gronlid. Friends gathered at the farm to enjoy trail rides on their ATVs and the warmth and hospitality of a fireside meal and good fellowship. Alice was a devoted Auntie to many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She never missed a birthday or special occasion and always ensured each of her treasured loved ones received carefully chosen card with her love and best wishes. Her home was filled with the pictures of all of the many people she carried in her heart each day. There will be a memorial service and private burial on Tuesday, April 12 at 1:00 pm in the chapel at the Fedusiak Funeral Home. A celebration of her life is being planned for this summer for her extended family to gather and share their memories of a wonderful sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for Alice during her prolonged illness including the staff at the Nirvana Assisted Living and the Newmarket Square in Tisdale.
