Heather (McCleary) Yeo

YEO, Heather (McCleary) - Heather Yeo lived life to the fullest. After returning home from visiting her son in Hong Kong, Heather passed away on April 8th, 2017. She will be remembered by her husband Brian Yeo, son Jordan who resides in Hong Kong, daughter Holly and husband Kirk residing in Los Angeles; sister Lana Edmunds and husband Mel; brother Brent McCleary and wife Judy; nephew Scott Edmunds and wife Megan, niece Lindsey Judson and husband Ben, and nephew Lisle Edmunds as well as many other family and good friends. Heather was a born teacher who said, "I never went to work - I went to school." She taught English at Portage Collegiate for 15 years and enjoyed a teaching exchange in England for 1 year. She also taught Sunday school at First Presbyterian Church and in later years guided newly diagnosed celiacs in Manitoba. Helping others was very important to Heather. She canvased for Heart and Stroke, volunteered at PAWS, and served on the board of the Canadian Celiac Association. In her free time, Heather enjoyed gardening, baking, and travelling with Brian to visit their two children in various parts of the world. The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 17, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church at 2:00 pm, led by Rev. John Zondag. A reception will immediately follow at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel - Trimble Room. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Heather's memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Celiac Association, PAWS or First Presbyterian Church. Dear Brian,

We are so saddened to hear of your loss. For so many years visiting with Heather brightened our stay in Dauphin. Her genuine smile and charm will always be how she is remembered.
