Donna Ellen (Pearson) Derksen

DERKSEN, Donna Ellen (Pearson) - Donna Ellen (Pearson) Derksen was born in Melfort, Saskatchewan on August 26, 1954 to Walter and Ellen (Rickson) Pearson. She was the eldest daughter in a family of six kids. She grew up around Beatty, Saskatchewan. Growing up she enjoyed figure skating. In the fall of 1971 Donna met Abe Derksen and they married on August 26, 1973. Together they bought a house in Melfort and made it their home. On October 14, 1974 they welcomed their first daughter Teresa into their family, followed by their second daughter Carrie on May 22, 1977. On February 08, 1980 they completed their family when they welcomed their son Jeffery. Donna worked at the Deluxe Diner in Melfort as a waitress before she started in the cafeteria at the CO-OP. She worked many years there before changing professions as she began working in housekeeping for the Melfort School Division. She also helped Abe in many ways in the automotive shops he owned. In 2001 Donna and Abe moved to Duchess, Alberta where she continued working in a school there. After a few years she began cleaning houses which kept her busy until her diagnosis in May 2016. Donna enjoyed tending to her beautiful flowers, she loved to go camping and spending time with her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her father Walter Pearson, her first born son, and her brother Lori Pearson. She left behind her husband Abe Derksen, her children Teresa Derksen, Carrie (Mark) Malmgren, and Jeff (Tamasyn) Derksen, her cherished grandchildren Alex Palmer, Myles Palmer, Zane Palmer, Sam Palmer, Shelby Wegman, Kole Green, Kayden Malmgren, Caelyn Green, Aurora Malmgren, Rider Malmgren, and Kinley Derksen, and her great grandson Noah Palmer. Also left to mourn her mother Ellen Pearson, her brothers Gary Pearson and Brian Pearson, her sisters Brenda (Craig) Simon and Sharon (Rick) Prytula, and everyone else who knew and loved her. Funeral Services were held at THOMíS FUNERAL HOME AND RECEPTION CENTRE in Duchess, Alberta at 11:00 am on Monday, Sept. 11 with a luncheon to follow Pastor Nathan Ramer Officiated. A Celebration of Life was held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, Sept. 16 at Kerry Vickar Centre in Melfort.
