Mason William Gariepy

GARIEPY, Mason William - Mason passed away peacefully in his mother's arms on November 25, 2017 at the age of 7 years, after a long, courageous battle against Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Mason was born on 10/10/10, which happens to be his favorite number. He was a happy kid and always smiling. He adored his bothers and wanted to do everything they were doing. Mason loved spending time outside, playing board games, camping, fishing and going for a drive. It didn't matter where, as long as he was going. He loved to sing and listen to music, except for "Happy Birthday". For some reason he didn't like family and friends singing Happy Birthday before he blew out his candles. Anybody that knew Mason knew he loved his Minions. Bob was his favorite, and for three years in a row, he dressed like King Bob for Halloween. Everyone that met Mason, without exception, was touched by his spirit, his sense of humor, his generosity and his deep love for others. He also knew how cute he was and would test us to see if he could get away with things. We knew Mason was special from the moment he was born. What we didn't know was how little time we would have with him. He leaves to mourn his parents: Gale and Jaret Gariepy; brothers: Connor and Ethan; grandparents: Sharon Granrude, Dale Granrude, John (Margaret) Gariepy; great-grandparents: Pat and Gust Loden; aunts and uncles: Garry (Ute) Granrude, Vince Gariepy, Sylvia Gariepy, and numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins. Also his sweet love, Kelsey Luedtke, and his dog, Jake. We would like to thank everyone that supported us through Mason's sixteen month battle against cancer. Your support by following Mason and Gale in thoughts and prayers, telephone calls, fundraisers or a hug have allowed us to keep going. Thank you to all that attended the Celebration of Life. With 36 nurses, his in-hospital teacher, a doctor and his wife all from RUH, plus 3 nurses from Ronald McDonald House that attended, showed us what an inspiration he was to others. This was also evident in the comments made by family relative and friend Rhonda Serviss, Rob Cormier who rode his bike across Canada sponsoring Mason, and to Activity Director Kelsey Luedtke, and nurse Vanesia Barry from RUH. Thank you to each and every one of you for your comments and memories of Mason. A very special thank you to the families' places of employment as their support has been overwhelming. Thank you to Darren Fedusiak, Leeanne Nagy and Beth Baerwald of Fedusiak Funeral Chapel & Crematorium for their support and guidance through this.13238451
