Olive Janet (Thompson) Button

BUTTON, Olive Janet (Thompson) - 1931 - 2019 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Olive Janet on Saturday March 2, 2019 in her 88th year. Janet passed peacefully at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, with family and her loving, devoted husband, Ron Button (Brigadier-General RCAF Retired) of 66 years by her side. She leaves behind five daughters, Leslie (Brad), Cathy (Mike), Patty (Jeff), Tracy (Davin) and Sara (Jamie). Loving Grandmother to Jennifer (Jason), Daryl (Maija), Danyell (Dave), Katie, Tessa, Ashley (Jeff), Lucas (Trina), Tyler, Sydney and Brandy (Scott). Predeceased by her grandson, Matthew. A special great-grandma to MacKenzie, Cassie, Carson, Gavin, Amelia, Ava, Lauryn, Olivia, Everitt and Ryder. Janet will be sorely missed and remembered by her sisters, Frances Bannon and Cheryl Rollins, her brothers, Roger and Chester Thompson, and sister-in-law, Gene Guay. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of everyone, including her nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Janet was a member of 422 Wing of the RCAF Association and St Brice’s Anglican Church. As an exemplary military wife, Janet travelled world-wide, during her husbands 35 years of RCAF service, while raising five daughters, and later attended numerous RCAF Association conventions and military events. Janet was well-known for her love of Frank Sinatra (old blue eyes) and her passion for the Dallas Cowboys and when they were playing, she was their biggest cheerleader. A dynamic lady, admired and loved by so many, she left this earth doing it “My Way”. As she requested, there will be no visitation or funeral. Cremation arrangements entrusted to the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME . A private, family celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations would be gratefully appreciated to a worthy cause of your choice. 13328927

Dear Ron,

Our sincerest heartfelt condolences to you and your family. We were so very saddened to hear of Jan's passing. Our loss is certainly heaven's great gain.

Jan was certainly a wonderful, spunky lady whom we are honoured to have known and call our 'friend'. She will be sorely missed but she will live on in our many memories we hold so dear.

Much love to you, Ron, at this difficult time.
