Elizabeth “Betty” Jean Foley

FOLEY, Elizabeth “Betty” Jean - Passed away peacefully at Burnbrae Gardens Nursing Home with her family by her side on Monday, February 25th, 2019 at the age of 89 years. Beloved wife of the late Ed Foley. Dear friend and sister-in-law of Rhoda Foley. Loving mother of Russell, Dawn, Robin, Bobby, Jan, Joey, the late Catherine "Gay" and predeceased by her step daughter Eileen Cross (nee Hall). Predeceased by her sister Doris Wilkes/Spellen (nee Cooney). Predeceased by her parents: Evelyn Hall/Cooney (nee Conley) and George Cooney. Betty will be truly missed by her grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and friends. Betty went to school near Cordova Mines, and grew up around the Vansickle Rd area. Her aunts, Goldie, Jean, and Alice, along with her uncle Willard, siblings of her mom Evelyn, were a cherished part of her life during those years. She started her working career at the Whitby Psychiatric in the late 1940s, took a break in the 50s and 60s to have 7 children, and finally retiring from Tony's Refreshment Service (T.R.S) in 1994, as one of their first female location managers. Betty and Ed then left the G.T.A. for the rural life in Prince Edward County, where Betty attended the Anglican Church and enjoyed her volunteer work in the "What-Not Shop". 20+ years later, they downsized to Campbellford, and Betty lived her remaining 1 1/2 years as a resident of Burnbrae Gardens. Betty’s love for the Lord was evident throughout her life. Family and friends were invited to visit at the WEAVER FAMILY FUNERAL HOMES - CAMPBELLFORD , 77 Second St. on Friday, March 1st, 2019 from 6-8 PM. A Funeral Service was held at the Campbellford Baptist Church, 166 Grand Rd., Campbellford on Saturday, March 2nd, 2019 at 11:00 AM, with visitation one hour prior to service. Pastor Lionel Pye officiated. Interment to take place in the spring at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Reception followed back at the church.
