Steve Rusnak

RUSNAK, Steve - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of a devoted husband, father, brother and Papa, Steve Rusnak Sr. on March 14, 2019 at Extendicare Kapuskasing at the age of 88. He worked for many years as an electrician and maintenance planner at Spruce Falls Power & Paper after being recruited to play hockey for the Kap GMs. Steve loved sports and the outdoors and spent his spare time golfing, skiing, playing hockey and fast-ball as well as hunting. He spent many summers at the camp in Geraldton and fishing on Lake Kenogamisis and he always knew the best place to pick wild mushrooms and blueberries. It gave him great pleasure and pride to follow his sons and his grandchildren at their sporting events but he found equal pleasure cheering for his beloved Maple Leafs. Steve will be greatly missed by his two sons: Steven Jr. (Monica) of South Porcupine and Andrew (Shari) of Kapuskasing; as well as his five grandchildren: Brett, Tye, Jarod, Aubrey, and Korey. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Anne; his daughter, Mary Elizabeth; his parents: Nicholas and Magdalena; and one sister, Anne Saarimaki. Steve Rusnak will be resting at the GUENETTE FUNERAL HOME , 108 Byng Ave., Kapuskasing, on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 22nd at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Father Hervé Sauvé officiating. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Sensenbrenner Hospital CT Scan Fund or the Arthritis Society would be greatly appreciated. Please accept our sincere sympathy in the passing of your Dad. We knew him from golfing in the Northern tournaments. He was a fine gentleman, a good sport, and we always enjoyed talking to him. Warmly, Sandra and Doug David

Steve was among my favourite Kap Sr A hockey players in the old Porcupine Mines League . . . unforgettable memories. Remember him fondly during my time running Kap's old Daily Press office. Condolences to the family.
