PAULIN, Joseph Onesime (Red) - at Victoria Hospital on Friday, September 14, 2012 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Gerry for 66 years. Dear father of Barbara Cecchin (Carlo) and Donna O'Donnell, all of London. Red, was born in Bathurst, New Brunswick on January 25, 1925. He will be remembered by his many brothers and sisters. Predeceased by his parents Alexine and Frank and his brothers Raymond and Gilbert. Red, a career soldier, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces at the age of 18. He served in WWII and was part of the United Nations Peace Keeping forces in Korea, Cyprus and Vietnam. During his career he was posted to Shilo, Manitoba; Edmonton; Soest, Germany; Montreal; Camp Borden; Quebec City and finally Wolseley Barracks in London. He retired from the Armed Forces on a Friday and returned to Wolseley Barracks the following Monday where he worked as an Auditor until he retired again. He loved his country serving it proudly and is the recipient of numerous medals of service. For as long as he was able he attended the Ordinance reunion held in Ottawa yearly and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. During his retirement he developed an interest in genealogy, compiling a comprehensive history of the Paulin family. Most of all, he was an honourable man. He adored his wife, referring to her as 'my girl' and his main purpose in life was making sure she and his children were well provided for. Friends will be received by the family from 10:00 - 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at FOREST LAWN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1997 Dundas Street East, (at Wavell), London where the funeral service will be held in the chapel at 11:00 am. Interment in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to The Canadian Diabetes Association. 11957394
