DEMPSEY, Frank - Passed away on Saturday, June 1st at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. He was the best friend and beloved husband of Colleen for 61 years. Loving and proud father and Grandfather of Jim Dempsey, his wife Carolyn, and children Rebecca and Emily, Bonnie Lockington, her husband Bryan, and children Matthew, Katie and Amanda, and Heidi McKean, her husband David, and children Elli and Brent. Frank was larger than life and lived it to its fullest. A veteran of World War 11, he accepted a football scholarship to the University of Florida. In 1954, he joined the Hamilton Tiger Cat's , and played in the CFL All Star game in 1955. His love of the outdoors, hunting and fishing led to a successful business career in Peterborough, Ontario that spanned 25 years. On retiring, Frank and Colleen continued exploring the world. They traveled in their beloved Pace Arrow motorhome, making new friends across North America. In the mid 90's they settled in Vero Beach, Florida where Frank honed his tennis skills. He was a man who made a difference where ever he landed. In the twilight of his years, he and Colleen resided at the Kensington Retirement Home in Oakville. Remembering Frank...

Many of us connected with the Theatre Guild in Peterborough have fond memories of the happy times spent with Colleen and Frank when Colleen was part of the musical theatre scene here. Frank, with his energy and charisma, was her most devoted fan. We send our sympathy and our love to Colleen and to the family at this sad time.

The world is twirling a bit more slowly now, without Frank. Never have I known a person with more force of life, generosity of spirit and ability to generates smiles. What an outstanding human being—raconteur extraordinaire, a gentle but exciting man, the kind of husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend that every person in the world would love to have. My heart goes out to Colleen and his family and I pray for strength for them to face life without his beloved presence.
