RUDMAN, Zoe Madeleine Helen - 1962 - 2013. On Friday, June 14, 2013, Zoe Madeleine Helen Rudman, a longtime resident of Grande Prairie, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the age of 50 years at the QEII Hospital. Zoe was born September 11, 1962 and raised in Surrey, England. She was educated at St. Philomena’s Convent and Commonweal Lodge and left school at age sixteen to begin her lifelong career in hospitality as a trainee chef. In the 1980’s Zoe left the UK to embark on what she called her “Canadian Adventure”. During Zoe’s time in Canada she held several positions within the hospitality industry; such was her passion. She travelled to several cities which included Toronto, Niagara Falls, Edmonton and most currently Grande Prairie. Zoe held a long term position with the Grande Prairie Inn as the Executive Assistant Manager until she returned to England in 2001 to the family home to nurse her dying mother and then stay on to care for her ailing father until his death in 2006. The following year Zoe returned “home” to Canada to continue her career in hospitality until her diagnosis of cancer in 2011. Zoe showed immense courage and bravery in her struggle all through her illness and passed away peacefully surrounded by her close friends and family. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends, especially those who gave so selflessly of their time and love supporting Zoe through the last very difficult years of her life. Everyone who knew her found her an inspiration, a valued colleague and a good friend with a cheeky sense of humor who was able to put you in your place quite properly. Someone you could trust and rely on, Zoe had a way of touching you by genuinely listening to you and caring enough to give her time to you freely. Zoe leaves behind her “babies”, her dogs, Nikko and Jasper who have been placed in the most loving homes to live out their lives loved and cared for. Zoe’s only wish was that her “babies” were taken care of and can rest peacefully knowing this has been taken care of. Zoe was predeceased by her Mother Phyllis May Rudman and Father Joseph Gerard Rudman. Funeral Services will be held for Zoe on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 11:00am, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grande Prairie (10404 102 St.). In lieu of flowers we kindly ask that a donation be made in Zoe’s name to the Grande Prairie SPCA (12220 104 Ave. Grande Prairie, AB T8V 8A8). Zoe’s best friend, her dog Nikko, was from this SPCA and brought Zoe endless amounts of laughter and joy. She would find comfort in knowing she was helping another rescue animal. Friends of Zoe’s are looking to put together a scrapbook of memories from her Canadian “home” to be sent to her relatives living in England. If you would like to share memories, funny stories, or photos of Zoe and your time with her, please mail them to: Z-Stories 8210 – 115A St, Grande Prairie, AB T8W 2R1 or bring them to the service.
