Baby Dean Schweitzer

SCHWEITZER, Baby Dean - At sunset on November 14, 2013, Dean Rockwell Schweitzer spent his final peaceful moments cradled in his mother's arms with his father holding them both. With the last light of the day, we spoke our heart wrenching goodbyes to our infant son and told him we loved him. Dean's short life began just 5 months earlier when he entered this world just minutes ahead of his twin sister on the first day of summer, June 21, 2013. Glad to be free of his assaultive neighbour, during their epic battles over womb space, Dean enjoyed the extra special care he received from the amazing and fantastic staff of the SGH and the NICU at LHSC. With inordinate physical strength for a 4 pound, 11 ouncer, and a fighting spirit, our baby boy tolerated and overcame many struggles with his health before finally coming home to live with his doting family. As Dean continued to face many health challenges, dedicated and caring staff and volunteers touched our lives and helped maximize our family's quality of life: just as Dean touched so many lives in his short but meaningful time. We are especially appreciative of the Ronald McDonald House of London, LHSC Hospital for Sick Children B6-200, PCCU, and NICU, the Stratford General Hospital and so many others. We will always remember with love our sweet little Honeybunny. We will remember how he loved his baths, being swaddled in his favourite blanket, how he calmed while being read car magazines by his father or having his forehead gently caressed by his mother. Dean's sweet little gaze, beautiful face, and warm cuddly presence just made us want to protect him and love him more. Dean didnít cry, he roared. No parent should have to experience the loss of a baby and no baby should have to endure such pain and suffering. We are comforted through unbearable devastation only through the knowledge that Dean is free from pain and will always be remembered. Dean leaves behind his devoted and adoring parents, Troy and Lucy Schweitzer (Fagg) (Forman). Fiercely protected and loved by big brothers, Jayden and Eric. Forever bonded with twin sister, Vivian. Loyally cared for and enduringly supported by grandmothers Irene Fagg (the late Brian Fagg) and Elizabeth Schweitzer (Bruce Schweitzer). Dean is lovingly remembered by aunts and uncles Tim and Shannon Schweitzer, Trevor and Cindy Schweitzer, Julie and Dave Van Straaten, and Sarah and Jeff Chalmers. He will be missed by many cousins, extended family and special family friends. We will honour Dean's life with a private family gathering to be followed by a visitation on Wednesday, November 20th, 2013 from 6 to 7:30 pm at the W.G. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME , 430 Huron St., Stratford. In lieu of flowers, Dean's family has asked that donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House-London or the LHSC-Hospital for Sick Children through the funeral home. 519-271-7411. www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com12630687
