Marie Trelle Baynton

BAYNTON, Marie Trelle - On the morning of January 27, 2014, Marie Trelle Baynton passed quietly away in San Antonio Texas, joining her husband of 61 years Dr. Don Baynton who passed away in 2007. Marie was born April 26, 1922, in Lake Saskatoon, Alberta, Canada to Herman and Beatrice Trelle. Marie grew up on her parents wheat farm where she loved playing the piano, painting, drawing, and athletics, all lifetime pursuits. Following graduation from Wembley School, she worked for the Royal Canadian Bank in Grand Prairie and Calgary. She entered nursing school in 1943 at Calgary General Hospital and left abruptly in 1945 to help her mother in Los Angeles, California when her father died. In 1946 Marie married Air Force Captain, Don Baynton, who later became a dentist. Oceanside, California became their home, where Don practiced dentistry for 21 years and their two children grew up. Marie devoted herself to her children, working in her husband's practice, playing the organ for her church, volunteering at the hospital, and learning to play tennis with her family. In 1969 Marie graduated from Palomar College Nursing School and passed her state exams to become a registered nurse, 24 years after her nursing training was interrupted. In 1976 Don accepted a teaching position in operative dentistry at the dental school at the University of Texas at San Antonio. They built one of the first homes at Fair Oaks Ranch in Boerne, Texas. They were members of St. Helena's Episcopal Church in Boerne. Marie joined the Boerne Reading Club and PEO, volunteered at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio and played tennis and golf at Fair Oaks. She and Don were life long volunteers and donors to numerous charities and organizations. They attended all of their grandchildren's sporting events and traveled when Don retired. After his death she moved to San Antonio to be near her son and daughter-in-law and grandchildren. Her family and friends will remember her beautiful smile and that she was a strong, independent woman who would do anything to help them. She described herself as a child of God who enjoyed life and liked doing things for people. She loved her family and she loved the Lord. In her final days Marie was served by her surviving family; her son Dr. Barr Baynton and his wife Sally of San Antonio; her daughter Lark and husband JC Montgomery, Jr. of Dallas, Tx.; granddaughter Kristy and husband Rob Sender of Dallas; and grandson Bryan Baynton of Tulsa, Ok. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Mae Trelle, married to Marie's brother Roy Kay Trelle, who passed away in 2011 in Wembley, Alberta; and her younger brother Ron Trelle and his wife Jesse of Grants Pass, Oregon. There will be a private family service. Marie requested that if desired, memorial gifts may be sent to Texas Scottish-Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn, Dallas, Texas, 75219.12707836
