Mary Mackie

MACKIE, Mary Helene (nee Haskins) It is with immeasurable sorrow that Lonna, Frank and Jack announce the passing of their beloved mother, Mary Helene Mackie on Monday, January 19th. Born to Stanley James Haskins and Grace Helene Morewood in September, 1922 in North Bay, Ontario. Married to Joseph Alonzo Mackie (1918-1989) in December, 1942. Gram to Lenni Jabour (Simon Tuplin) Toronto, Joe Jabour (Heather Taylor) Vancouver, Brandi Ann Mackie, Calgary and Kortni Lyn Mackie, North Bay. GG to Nadege and Anik Jabour Tuplin and Osirus Black. Survived by brother, Bill Curry (Anita) and sisters-in-law, Jean Curry (Carson, deceased) all of North Bay and Jean Mackie (William deceased) Campbell River, B.C. Also predeceased by her stepfather, Joseph Curry, sisters, Marvel, Dora and Ethel, brothers, Jim, Carson and Leonard Curry. Mary will be sadly missed by her cousin, Joyce Scharfe and her many nieces and nephews, especially her devoted nieces, Kathy Dudson (Eric) and Christine Jenkins (Jim). Mary was a member of the St. Brice's quilting group for many years and loved her friendships with the ladies who quilted alongside of her. Her love of genealogy led her to voluntarily work laboriously for over five years at the library each Wednesday copying the old hand written census for the area from microfiche to hard copy in preparation for it to be computerized. Mary was also an employee of Sears for many years. But the roles in her life that meant the most to her were that of devoted wife, loving Mom, Gram, and GG. Memorial service at interment in the spring. All arrangements made through MARTYN FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice Fund would be greatly appreciated.12889561

Memories

I hold beautiful memories of Aunt Mary, many years ago... A child having sleepovers and all the visits ours parents made, giving us time together! Uncle Joe the iceman, Aunt Mary the poised and gracious lady that taught me to always put my best foot forward. How the beautiful memories flood back at the loss of a dear family member. Loving thoughts and prayers are with you all. A time to reconnect! Hugs ....Marilyn and Bruce Marshall.

My wife Laura and I were both very close to Aunt Mary. She was the sort of aunt every kid should have. She made you feel you were the most special person in the world whenever she saw you, and gave the world's greatest hugs, always squeezing the life out of you. Her smiles, hugs, and love for friends and family will forever be missed by everyone who knew her, especially Lonna, Frank and Jack.

Leigh Ann and I are thinking of Lonna, Frank and Jack in this time of sorrow. Always my favourite Aunt, Jay is so pleased to have had the chance to enjoy a wonderful, laugh-filled visit just this past November. He will cherish that memory. Leigh Ann has warm recollections of sharing genealogical tidbits and was always amazed at Aunt Mary's prodigious memory and grasp of details.

Our deepest sympathy to all.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of your wonderful mother. She was the sweetest most loving and caring lady. Her smile was truly genuine. Your mom and mine pushed baby carriages to the white owl and have many a visits. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
