Grace Seto

Grace Seto was born Chow Wai Lan near Hoi Ping in southern China. She soon lost her parents when her father emigrated and her mother passed away. She was loved and raised by her maternal grandmother and her paternal uncle until her father returned long enough to give her a step-mother and a brother. In 1947, she married Jin Hung (Wally) Seto. They had 3 sons and a daughter. The family immigrated to Canada in stages with Tom coming in 1954, everyone else in 1959 except for Mom in 1964. In the years apart, she bridged the gap by regularly sending care packages with hand-sewn clothing and treats. Unfortunately, the family reunion did not turn out as hoped and the marriage eventually dissolved. In her middle years, Mom started a career as an institutional cook, working in Pineview Lodge in Nipawin and in hospitals in Saskatoon and Calgary. In a family of cooks, she alone has her journeyman cook certification. In her retirement, she lived with Nick & Susana and helped raise Charmayne. For the first time, she got to raise a child to adulthood without interruption. She is survived by her children Tom & Helen, Nick & Susana, Michael and Shirley; her grand-children Angela, Allison, Adriana, Charmayne and Gordon.0

Sorry to hear of the loss of your mother Tom. I remember eating shrimp with you and your mom at golden Dragon in Saskatoon.
