Isabel Gimbel

GIMBEL, Isabel - Peacefully with family by her side on Friday, February 2, 2018 with eagerness and anticipation, Isabel Anne Gimbel, 85, of Tavistock went on to her home in heaven. Isabel was the only child of Roy and Mary (Stauffer) Becker having been born in Kitchener on December 30, 1932. She married Ken Gimbel at Breslau on July 31, 1954 and was his beloved wife for 61 years until his passing on April 28, 2015. Isabel spent the first 25 years of her life residing in Breslau until Ken purchased a milk route trucking business and they moved to Tavistock. She was an active member of the Tavistock Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society; loved people and nature; enjoyed watching and caring for birds; was a volunteer for many years at Ten Thousand Villages, knit many tassel caps and prayer shawls. Now she has flown off to be one of God's angels and will watch over us all from above. Isabel is survived by her daughter, Cindy and friend Zivian Pribic; her son, Brad and his wife Annette, who has been so much more than just a daughter-in-law; two very special grandchildren, Eric and Tanya who Isabel and Ken loved to take fishing and to watch them play hockey and soccer. Relatives and friends will be received in the Francis Funeral Home, 77 Woodstock St. N., Tavistock on Saturday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Isabel will be held in Tavistock Mennonite Church on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at 2 p.m. Pastor Jim Brown will officiate. Reception following the service. Interment in Breslau Mennonite Cemetery at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society for Research or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated and may be made through the Francis Funeral Home by calling 519-655-2431.13250672

Cindy, Brad and your families. I was so sorry to read about your Mom's recent passing. She was always a good friend and I will always remember her special way with orchids and the beautiful floral arrangements she could make. May all your happy memories help you through this difficult time in your lives.
Goodbye dear friend
