The Reverend Dr. David Williamson

WILLIAMSON, The Reverend Dr. David - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of The Reverend Dr. David Williamson on February 12th, 2018. Born October 8th, 1946, David was the son of Frank (2009) and Nina (Barrowman) Williamson. Loving husband of Lynn McGeachy Schultz. Proud father of Drew (Laura Black) Williamson, Amanda (James) Thompson, and Kent (Allison Bennett) and Meghan Schultz. Grampa to Nate, Caitlyn, Jack and Graham. David was ordained in 1971 and was called to serve congregations in Arden, Peterborough, Beaconsfield, Chatham, London and Windsor. He believed it was a privilege to share in people’s faith journeys. He cared deeply for those whose hearts were entrusted to his care. He was a strong social justice advocate locally, provincially and internationally. With many projects to his credit, he believed there was still much more to do. He brought joy to our lives, challenged the inclusiveness of our thinking and reminded us each day how much we were loved. He leaves behind brothers Ross (Ursula) and Ron (Leslie) Williamson, sister Barb Gracie, mother-in-law Jane McGeachy (the late Neil), brother-in-law Scott (Sheila) McGeachy, sister-in-law Susan (Bill) Foran, and many nieces and nephews. We will remember his infectious smile and warm personality, his incredible optimism and his ability to find the best in everyone. He loved deeply and so he was loved as well. He filled our lives with laughter, love and wonderful memories. He left us in a moment of peace and serenity. He will live in our hearts forever. Family and friends are invited to the A LEXANDER & HOULE FUNERAL HOME, 245 Wellington West, Chatham, 519-352-2710 , on Wednesday February 14th with visiting from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday February 15th with visiting from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at St. Andrew’s United Church, 85 William St. S., Chatham, on Friday February 16th at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Anne Corbett officiating. Cremation to follow with interment to take place at a later date. Friends planning an expression of remembrance are asked to consider Friends of the New Animal Shelter and St. Andrew’s Residence Foundation. There's a spirit that transcends the need for words and connects us all...a deep empathy that says what happens to one of us affects the rest of us. Drew and

Amanda your Dad was the wind beneath the wings of many of us. I believe that will still continue. He will always be with you. Blessings
