Joseph René Bernard (Bernie) Hamel

HAMEL, Joseph René Bernard (Bernie) - 1930 - 2018 Bernie Hamel passed away completely at peace on October 29, 2018. Predeceased by his loving wife, Mélendy Larouche in 2013 and his sister, Margot Barrett, on October 16, 2018. Survived by siblings Yvon (Doris) and Julien (Jacqueline). Bernie will be deeply missed by his children Michel (Debbie), Marc (Michelle), Denis (Jocelyn), Kathleen (David) and Jean (Isabelle). He will always be remembered as their fighter pilot grandpa by his grandchildren Joanne, Shaun, Meghan, Erica, Zachary, George, Enya, Marshall, Lara and Olivier and 5 great-grandchildren Evan, Ethan, Elaina, Henry and Felix. Bernie will also be sadly missed by his Fox Run "family", including Heather and her fabulous staff, as well as the residents there. His passing will leave an empty place at the Friday Legion lunches with the "Kingston Boys" as well as with his many military friends. Bernie was born in Jonquière, Québec. He joined the RCAF in 1951. After many postings around the world, Bernie retired from the Air Force in 1976 and moved the family to Gananoque where he transitioned to a new career at the Royal Military College in Kingston. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, November 10th at St Patrick's Catholic Church in Lansdowne (985 Kidd Road N K0E 1L0). Please join us for a reception to celebrate Bernie's life at 1:30 pm at Fox Run by the River Retirement Residence (104 Thousand Island Parkway, Gananoque, ON K7G 2V4). In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario would be appreciated.13311129

Mes sympathies à toute la famille. Je garde de très bons souvenirs de mon oncle Bernard, de son sourire et de sa gentillesse.
