Leonard (Len) Deighton

DEIGHTON, Leonard (Len) - It is with great sadness that the family of Leonard (Len) Deighton, beloved husband to Maureen Deighton (nee Rantz), announce his passing after a brief stay in hospice at Marianhill on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at the age of 73, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Pembroke September 13, 1945 to the late Arthur & Helen Deighton, on Isabella St. Lived most of his 73 years in Pembroke with a brief sojourn of 7 years in Kitchener, Ont. Married September 28, 1968 to Maureen (Sue) Rantz. Celebrated 50 years of marriage in September 2018. Loving father of Gina (James Baldry), Clay (Erin Whyte), Sherry (Bob Beaudry) & Danny (Christine). Proud grandfather to Sydney, Jade & Colby Beaudry; and Ashley & Olivia Deighton. Step-grandfather to Hollye & Robbie Beaudry; and Jacey, Griffen & Brady Baldry. Survived by one brother Hartley Deighton (Pat) and many nieces & nephews. Brother-in-law to Lloyd & Earla Solmes, Norm & Bernice Leclair, Doug & Dolores Giesler, Weldon & Norma Rantz, and Nancy Rantz. Predeceased by brother Keith Deighton, father-in-law/mother-in-law William & Margaret Rantz. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude and thanks to the staff of Marianhill for the wonderful care and support, as well as the cancer treatment centre at the Pembroke Hospital and home-care workers from Champlain LHIN who supported Len while at home. As per Len's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration in honor of Lenís life will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 72, 202 Pembroke St. East, Pembroke from 2:00-4:00pm on Monday, November 26, 2018. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Br 72 or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.13313610
