Kenneth Merkley

MERKLEY, Kenneth It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth Merkley in the early morning of Monday, November 26, 2018 at KGH with his loving wife Margaret by his side. Ken was predeceased by his sister Janie. Ken leaves behind his parents Barb and Leo Merkley, sisters, Audrey Rooney and Margie Howser, daughters Tabitha (Maurice) and Pamela Merkley, step-son, Ronald Irwin and three grandchildren Issac, Lincoln and Nathaniel. Ken will also sadly be missed by his extended family. We hope there are boats in heaven. Ken fought hard to live his life the best way possible while battling many illnesses over the past 3 years. His sense of humour, storytelling, pranks, huge laugh, kindness and love is now being shared with the angels in heaven. Kenny's love of bowling, pool, boating and fishing, gathered him many friends who will all have fond memories of him. We could all say "Rest in Peace" but knowing him, we are sure the angels are now straightening their halos and looking for their harps. As per Ken's wishes, there will be a drop in "Celebration of Life", Saturday, December 8th, 2018 beginning at 2pm at the Naval Veterans Association, 1138 Sydenham Road, Kingston, ON. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Diabetes Association or the Kidney Foundation.13315035

Uncle Ken was a very kind, humorous and supportive man to me. I will never forget Uncle Ken and Aunt Margy coming to my hockey games when I played for Kingston. I definitely played harder. Also a fond memory of riding in his classic convertible. RIP Ken.

Dear Margaret

We knew each other such a short time but Ken and you left a lasting impact on me. I am so sorry to read of Ken’s passing. May he be directing the folks in heaven on how to get things “ right”. I’ ll Always remember the cat.

Take care and remember to breathe.

Robin

From a chance meeting to a friendship filled with laughter and great ideas. Ken's answer to any idea was let's do it! He was always optimistic, positive and took chances fearlessly. He was an example of living life fully. We shared many wonderful times with Margaret and Ken. We send our deepest sympathy and love to Margaret and Ken's family and to all those who were touched by Ken. We miss you Ken and look forward to meeting again in a place where pain does not exist but only peace and love
