William (Bill) Gordon Dwyer

DWYER, William (Bill) Gordon - September 25, 1939 - December 7, 2018 It is with great sadness that the family of Bill Dwyer announce his passing after a brief illness at 79 years of age. Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Maria, brother Henry, and sister Bernice. Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years Patricia (Trish) Kelly and his children, Wayne (Sandy), Paula, and Sheryl (Art). Bill will also be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Lauren, Alex, Rachel, Kelsey, Amy, Anthony, Jordyn, Tara, and Alana. His brothers and sisters, Mary (Tom deceased)Norman, Dennis (Bernadette) Dwyer, Ada (Paddy deceased) Fitzgerald, Ruth (Roy) Bennett, Carmel (Peter) Allan, Brian (Nola) Dwyer, Calvin (Cheryl) Dwyer, Audrey (Dave) Hurley, Don (Debbie) Dwyer, Kathy Kelloway, Carol (Phillip) O’Keefe. Brothers & Sisters in law, Iris (Michael) Donohoe, Ellen (Bill deceased) Kennedy, Edward deceased (Sandi) Kelly, Michael deceased (Marie) Kelly, James (Brenda) Kelly, Rose (Vic Soares) McCabe, John Kelly, Owen (Vivian) Kelly, Joe Kelly, and Peggy Kelly. Bill will also be remembered by his numerous nieces and nephews and dear friends. Bill was born and raised on Bell Island in Newfoundland and Labrador, and worked most of his life at the Iron Ore Company of Canada in Labrador City, NL. Bill was an active builder of the community in Labrador including many sports in the community, notably as a member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Hall of Fame and instrumental in bringing the Canada and World Cups of cross-country skiing to the community and with the Tamarack Golf Club. During that time Bill was active with the parish council of the Catholic Church. Bill and Trish have lived in the Kingston area since 1990 and are active members of the community in Bath where they have lived since 2007. The Dwyer family would like to thank the staff of the Lennox & Addington County General Hospital in Napanee for their care, especially the staff of the Palliative Care Unit for their compassion in his last days. A cremation has taken place. There will be a Funeral Mass at St. Linus Parish, 217 Main Street in Bath Ontario on Saturday, December 15th at 2:00 pm followed by a Celebration of Life at the Loyalist Golf and Country Club, 1 Loyalist Blvd. in Bath, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory may be made to the Lennox & Addington County General Hospital, The ALS Society of Canada, or the Canadian Cancer Society.
