Stephen George Thompson

THOMPSON, Stephen George - Stephen, recently passed away peacefully at the Nipissing Manor at the age of 67. Stephen is survived by his mother Geneva, son Christopher and daughter Trisha Cooke (Mike) of Barrie, his grandchildren Kaiya, Rius, Ronan and Alyssa, brother David (Linda) and niece Abbey of North Bay. He was predeceased by his son Patrick and father George (Bud). After a century of Thompson railroaders, Stephen was the last one as he retired in 2004 as a mechanic from the ONTC shops in Cochrane. While he grew up and went to school in North Bay, Stephen started his career in the forestry sector in Tee Lake, Quebec however, he moved north to fix train engines for the ONR. Stephen was a dedicated modelroader and creative photographer of trains as he enjoyed the beautiful solitude of Northern Ontario to get that unique video or picture. As well, just like his late grandfather Dwight George, he was an avid outdoorsman and talented carpenter. A special thank you to the amazing staffs at Algonquin Nursing Home and later Nipissing Manor where he received that special care during his last couple of years. Respecting Stephen's wishes his body has been cremated as a graveside memorial will be planned for the spring.13325155
