MATHESON, Gordon Ellis - June 9, 1924 - February 20, 2019 Passed peacefully at the F.J. Davey Home in his 95th year with his loving wife by his side. Survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Bernice, his children Mel (Kelly), Donald (Paula), Diane Lapensee (Jack), Blair (Ruth), Brian (Suzanne), Kathy McLeod (Don) and Chuck (Kim). Predeceased by his daughter Marilyn Beharriell. Cherished grandfather of 16, great-grandfather of 15 and great-great-grandfather of 1. He leaves his sister Lorna Jeffery (Clayton) and sister in law Myrna. Predeceased by 7 brothers and sisters. Gordon loved his hobby farm and garden and he had a passion for wood working. He had a keen wit and was known for his quick sense of humour. The family wishes to thank the staff at the F.J. Davey home for their care and compassion. If desired, the family appreciates donations to the Rydal Bank Historical Society, F. J Davey Home Foundation, or to a charity of your choice. Family and friends are invited to visit at the BEGGS FUNERAL HOME in Thessalon, ON, on Monday, February 25, 2019 from 11am until time of service at 1pm. Mary Alice Policicchio officiating. I'm so sorry to hear of Gordon's passing. I had a opportunity to work for Gordon and share the small community of Rydal Bank with him and his family. Some of the best memories I have are of playing "downtown" with Chuck and the gang.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I was happy to have known Mr Matheson during my youth. He was always part of Fall Suppers in Rydal Bank. And with the bunch of village kids playing at his house.
