Mary Christena Chessell

CHESSELL, Mary Christena - Mary Christena Chessell, age 91, of Stratford and formerly of Rostock, Varna and Mitchell, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 7, 2019. Born in Fullarton Township, daughter of the late John and Jeanette (Ringler) Jefferson. Predeceased by her true love and best friend William Chessell (February 9, 2016). Proud mother of Don (Laurie), Paul (Sheila), Marion Kreuter (Steve), Brian (Nicole) and daughter-in-law Susan Chessell. Grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Survived by sisters Ruth Laing, Olive Riehl and Ina Laidlaw (William), sister-in-law Anita Chessell, Barbara Jefferson along with many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by a son Norman (December 31, 2011), sisters Margaret Cleland (Bruce), Eva Laing (Gordon), Laura LaForge (Charles), by brothers Norman Jefferson, John Jefferson (Norma) and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Cora and Earl Harvey, Evelyn Chessell, Burnie and Homer Andrews, Helen Jenkin, Bruce and June Chessell, Gordon Chessell, John Chessell and brothers-in-law Robert Laing, Don Riehl. The family would like to sincerely thank the entire staff at Woodland Towers for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Mary. Mary enjoyed many summers at their trailer in Powassan. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home 430 Huron St., Stratford on Sunday, March 10, from 2-4 p.m. and on Monday, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow. Spring Interment at Zion United Church Cemetery, Rostock.
