WATKINS, William (Bill) Joseph - July 14th, 1938 - March 30th, 2019 In Loving Memory Beloved husband of Patricia Eyden-Watkins and predeceased by Annette Watkins (née Forget). Loving father of Jamie Watkins (wife Michelle), Carl Watkins (wife Karen), Christine Watkins-Nasreddine (husband Jawad), and John Watkins (wife Louise). Cherished grandfather of Devon, James, Jazlyn, Kenton, Mitchell, Colette, Carla, Andrew, Jessie, and Chelsea. Dear stepfather of Sarah Vukas and Mark Vukas (wife Mariellen), and dear step-grandfather of Samuel, Jackson, Laura, Michaela, Alexandra, and Nicholas. Dear son of Frank and Elizabeth Jane Watkins (née Woods). Dear brother of Margaret Keefe (husband Michael predeceased). Dear uncle of Ellen Kowara (husband Maciej) and Mary Keefe, grandnieces Virginia, Cecilia, and Angelica, and grandnephews Francis and Ruphus. Bill was born in Lakeview, Ontario in 1938; the family moved to Holstein, Ontario in 1941. Bill and Annette moved to the Sudbury area in 1961 where Bill took a teaching position in the Separate School Board. For most of his career, he was an elementary school principal in several schools. The last school he was principal at was St Aloysius. He took a keen interest in his students and devised many innovative and creative ways to help them learn. Bill earned a B.Ed. at Laurentian University, and a M.Ed. at Toronto University while working and raising a family in Val Caron, Ontario. He took an interest in providing access to university education for those in need of finances. He was generous to those in need. Bill will be greatly missed by his family and friends, and all those who were influenced by his zest for life, sense of humor and his wisdom. Many thanks to all those who have held us in their prayers during this difficult time. Resting at the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME 233 Larch Street, Sudbury (Friends may call 2-5pm; 7-9pm Friday with parish prayers 3pm Friday). Funeral Mass in Christ the King Church 30 Beech Street, Sudbury Saturday, April 6th, 2019, at 10am. Interment in the Civic Memorial Cemetery, 265 Second Ave, Sudbury.
