PETER, Loran Clark - Loran Clark Peter, of Kincardine, passed away surrounded by family on Monday, April 22nd, 2019 at the age of 86. Beloved husband of the late Emma Elizabeth Peter (née Moffat). Predeceased by his parents Herbert and Myrtle Peter, brother Howard Orville (Jessie) Peter and sister-in-law Evelyn Splan. Loran's family has long roots in Bruce County, with most arriving in the early years of settlement. The 2012 Golden Jubilee medal recognized Loran's lifelong commitment to his community, including leadership roles as school board trustee at the time of the KTTPS build, Bruce County Cattlemen's Association chairman, International Plowing Match volunteer, Kincardine Agricultural Society executive, and Kincardine Township Councillor. Additionally he found time to develop a girls' softball team where he coached his three daughters. Sitting on the Kincardine Hospital Board for 20 years was Loran's longest and largest commitment. He was tireless in fighting for better facilities, equipment, and services for his home town hospital, and was well respected for his wisdom and guidance. The family has suggested that Loran would be best honoured by donations to the Kincardine Hospital Foundation due to this longtime commitment to its enhancements. The visitation took place at the DAVEY-LINKLATER FUNERAL HOME on Thursday, April 25th, 2019 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm where the funeral service to celebrate Loran’s life was at 12:00 pm. with Reverend Gord Dunbar officiating.
