Jennifer Selma Browne

BROWNE, Jennifer Selma - At the age of 72, of Kingston, Ontario passed quietly in her sleep on Friday, May 10th, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. Jennifer immigrated to Canada from Trinidad as a young woman to work for the Royal Bank of Canada where she continued to work for over 40 years. As a devoted Catholic, Jennifer lived her life in accordance with her beliefs. She was a very active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, where she gave freely of her time and resources. She volunteered at Kingston General Hospital in the Pastoral Care Department for over 15 years and gave many hours to Providence Manor Nursing Home assisting residents with their spiritual and physical needs. Jennifer was known by her friends and neighbors as a strong, independent woman" who would do anything for anybody, and would help in any way she could". She often was found taking care of gardens and pets for those who were traveling or bringing meals to those who were ill. She was also known by the animals of the neighborhood as the lady with a bag of tasty treats at her back door, and was always available for petting and kind words. Jennifer had a great love for plants, food, bowling and travel. She was lucky enough to have traveled the world touching lives wherever she went. She helped build a church in Tuktoyaktuk, a hamlet of 900 Inuit people on the Arctic coast. She learned to bowl and made many good friends on the "The Bomets" bowling team. She learned to cook from her Trinidadian roots and could feed an army with all the food she kept frozen in her refrigerator! Jen was loved for her generosity and kind heart and her loss will be deeply felt by many all around the world. Jennifer is predeceased by her parents, Percy and Hilda Browne and her sister Judy and brother-in -law Chris Kayser. She is survived by her niece and nephew Nicole Kayser and Patrick Kayser, both of Portland, Oregon and nephew Mark Kayser of Berlin, Germany, her cousin Wendy Lee Yuen of Trinidad, an aunt and many other cousins from her Trinidad family. A special Thank You to Dr. Booth, Dr. Goldie, the palliative care team at Kingston General Hospital and Providence Care Hospital for their care. Mass of a Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, 490 Days Rd, Kingston on Wednesday, May 15th at 10:30 a.m. Followed by the Rite of Committal with prayers at St. Mary’s Cemetery. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Our dearest Jennifer, we know you are in God's loving embrace now. You shall forever remain in our hearts and memories. May your spirit fly free! In care of GORDON F. TOMPKINS FUNERAL HOME – TOWNSHIP CHAPEL 613-546-5150.
