Raymond Houle

HOULE, Raymond - It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Raymond Houle, on June 28, 2019, at the age of 89. Son of the late Arthur Houle and the late Rose Duguay. He is survived by his younger sisters Rose (late Roger Cote), Fleurette (late Normand Roberge) and Claire (late Denis Habel) and predeceased by his siblings Paul, Julio (late Jeanne-Mance Thibeault), Pauline, Marcel (Denise Roy), Sister Rejeanne and Gilberte (late Fernand Jacob). Raymond was born in Ste-Rose-de Poularie, Quebec. He left home at the age of 14 to work in the lumber camps and later moved to Timmins, Ontario, where he raised his family. Raymond worked for Pamour Mines for a while then went on to work for Burnett’s Taxi where, in addition to driving taxi, he also drove the morning bus for special needs students and in the afternoon, did the daily “Timmins to Kapuskasing” run as a courier and as a commercial delivery driver for the Timmins Daily Press. Ray worked exhausting hours working six and sometimes seven days a week. He later changed companies and would be known for driving the #25 taxi at Vet’s Taxi in Timmins for over 20 years. A man of few words, Raymond was known for his gentle nature and kind heart. He loved to socialize with family and enjoyed a close relationship with all his in-laws. Raymond started his retirement years in Sainte-Agnes-de-Dundee, Quebec and then as his health declined, moved to Little Current, Ontario to the care of his oldest daughter. Loving husband and a caring father, Raymond is survived by his adoring wife Doreen (nee Monette), his children Linda (Tony Rosato), Noel (Judie), Renelle (Dany Laplante), Gilles (Kim) as well as his grandchildren Allen and Christy Manion; Tristan, Shaylee and Shannon Houle; Mandy, Kyle, and Katie Laplante; Colten Houle, Jacalyn Veenstra and great-grandchildren, Brandon, Halley, Brianna, Raven, Peyton, Hunter, and Liam. Loved and sadly missed by all his brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. There will be no funeral service but instead, a Celebration of his life will be celebrated with his family members. The family wishes to thank the caring workers from the TLC Home for Seniors, Bayshore, Manitoulin Health Center, and the Centennial Manor in Little Current, On for their care and dedication to Raymond over the last few years of his life.13340054
