Floyd Abraham

ABRAHAM, Floyd - August 21, 1926 - February 27, 2016 - Floyd was born on August 21, 1936. He was born in Moose Range, at his grandfather's house. He lived on the farm with his mother and siblings, and attended school in Allenville. The family then moved to Snowden, and then eventually to Nipawin and he worked as a field pitcher for a thrashing crew. He held a variety of jobs; he worked as a trucker hauling grain, then worked the rigs in Oxbow, Sk. He came back to Nipawin and got a job at Newfield Seeds. He met the love of his life, Ila, in 1957 at the age of 21, at a dance at the Franko Hall. They both continued to live in their parents' home and date for the next 5 years. Then they got married October 6, 1962, and moved in to their first house, that Floyd had built. Floyd continued working at the seed plant and B&S Construction and Ila at the Scotia bank. They would save their money and work on things little by little, as they could afford. Their house and garden were a great source of pride for Floyd, having worked it himself. Then a little store called Millers came for sale. Floyd and Ila decided to take a leap of faith, quitting their jobs and purchasing the store. They also sold their beloved house, and lived in the back of the store. Three years later, in 1976, after years of trying, they had Jason. Floyd enjoyed such things as taking Jason out for snowmobile rides after the store closed and also Jason's hockey tournaments. He also loved having young Jason help him haul bottles to PA weekly and buying him new wrestlers for helping! The store continued to be busy and they were quickly outgrowing it, so in 1983, they built the new store right beside the old one. After a few years in the new store the family enjoyed a trip to Hawaii that they'd won! As the years went on, Floyd took pride in having his son with him at the store, showing him the ropes, and making sure to tease him a little along the way! They also took a trip to Disneyland in 1994 to celebrate Jason's graduation. Floyd was elated when his son got married in 2007 and in the next few years, he got to enjoy two precious grandchildren, Brynlee and Corbin. Floyd was predeceased by his mother, Etta Abraham, and sister Jean Henry. Floyd is survived by his wife, Ila, son Jason (Renee), grandchildren Brynlee and Corbin, his sisters Helen and Evelyn (Huey), and brother Eldon. Floyd is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held on March 5, 2016 at 2 pm in the Nipawin Evergreen Centre with Pastor Jordan Gadsby officiating. Floyd was laid to rest in Mabel Hill Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. To send online condolences please visit The family placed their trust with COVENTRY FUNERAL SERVICES Nipawin, SK 306-862-423313034624

Sad to hear of Floyd,s passing. Always a treat to deal with for so many years. Gail still claims she cannot fill her own gas tank.
