Clair Charles, MD, FRCPC Williams

WILLIAMS, Clair Charles, MD, FRCPC - It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Clair Williams on Friday April 8th at the Toronto General Hospital surrounded by his family. Born July 14th, 1938 in Kitchener, he was the son of the late Carl & Irene Williams. For over 52 years he was the loved and loving husband of Jan. Proud father of Scott (Sue) Williams, Kristi (George) Dickson & Tara (Andre) Paterson. He was the cherished "Hoppa" to Victoria, Christopher, Katie, Michael, Emily, Matthew, Melaina & Jayden. He was also loved and will be missed by his brother Ross (Sue) from Perth, Australia, niece Judi & nephew Chad. For 18 years, Clair was a nephrologist at the Wellesley Hospital. After closure of the hospital, he worked in continuing medical education (MedEd Canada) and then the pharmaceutical industry (Glaxo) before returning to his passion of nephrology in 2001 when he established the Dialysis Unit at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) which he enjoyed until his retirement. In retirement, he pursued his passion of golf and had the opportunity to enjoy the things he loved - wood working and spending time with friends and family in Muskoka & Florida. A casual memorial gathering will be held at the Peterborough Golf Club on Sunday May 1st @ 2pm. Please bring your favourite memories to share with us. If you desire, a donation to the Dialysis program at the PRHC ( or the Kawartha Food Bank ( in his honour would be appreciated. We are sorry to hear of the passing of Clair. We did not know Clair for a long time but we certainly enjoyed our conversations with he and Jan at Creekside events. We are very impressed to read about his contribution to health care here in our home town of Peterborough.

Please accept our deepest condolences.
