Pearl Ruda

RUDA, Pearl - February 1, 1919 - August 24, 2016 - Mom was born in Khedive, Saskatchewan to Bert and Myrtle Colbow on February 1, 1919; a sister for Ruth. Mom went to school in LaFleche and then when they moved north to Moose Range she attended Sunnybrook School. Mom was a dad's girl and loved carpenter work as well as being around horses and cattle. Mom was an outdoors person and enjoyed that over being stuck in the house. Mom married Oliver Snaith and they homesteaded on SE 18 51 12 in the R.M. of Moose Range. Mom had three boys: Allen, Don and Ken who came along three months after her husband Oliver had passed away. Mom stayed on the farm and raised her three sons by herself. Mom always had a large garden, cattle, hogs, chickens and horses. There was always food on the table and with farmer season deer meat was always available. There was never a time when her boys went hungry. Mom sewed, knitted and made their clothes; always making sure they had a good set to go to town and school. Mom loved music and could play just about every musical instrument (piano, banjo, accordion, guitar and fiddle). She played at dances, socials and many jam sessions with neighbors. Mom didn't need a song book, but could listen to a song and then play it. (Unfortunately her three boys could only play the radio!) Mom later married Charles Ruda and her life got a lot better as they did old time dancing, joined the Happy Harvesters, went fishing and travelling. Charles was a good and gentle man and was missed very much when he passed away. Mom was predeceased by her husband Oliver Snaith, husband Charles Ruda and son Donald Snaith and his wife Gwen. Mom is survived by her sons Allen (Norma) Snaith, Ken (Aldonna) Snaith, grandsons Greg and Rod, granddaughters Kim and Chastity and their spouses and great grandchildren. Your work is done Mom. Rest in Peace. The funeral service was held at the Coventry Funeral Chapel on Monday, August 29, 2016 with Reverend Lorna King officiating. Pearl was laid to rest in Mabel Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Pineview Lodge Activity Fund.
