Mary Lofstrom

LOFSTROM, Mary - April 23, 1937 - October 10, 2016 Mary was born April 23, 1937 on a farm northeast of Kinistino; the oldest child of Jonas and Astrid Blomquist. Mary's father died in 1955 which led to Mary quitting school and going to work to help support her mother and younger siblings. Mary had three sisters - Margaret (deceased), Janet and Irene and two brothers - Andy and Jim. Mary married Aldon Lofstrom on March 28, 1959. Together they raised six children and one grandchild. When they were younger they moved around to different places, but for the most part called Choiceland home. They lost two sons Elwood in 1982 and Aaron in 1998. Losing their children was very hard on Mary and Aldon. Mary was a devoted loving wife and the best mother, grandmother and great grandmother anyone could have. Mary enjoyed the outdoors and loved animals. She raised a couple of baby deer and enjoyed the farm life. Mary had a strong faith in God; she would always say, "God only gives us what we can handle." The last few years of her life, Mary was diagnosed with dementia, which put her in the nursing home in the fall of 2010. Mary resided there for six years until her passing October 10, 2016. Mary is survived by sisters Janet and Irene; brothers Andy and Jim; sons Leo (Dolly), Rodney (Roberta) and Nels (Corey); daughter Alice (Edgar); grandchildren Richard, Debbie (James), Kyle (Amanda), Stephanie, Leisa, Christian (Charlene), Cameron (Alicia), Emily (Shane), Ellwood, Colt, Elvera, Isabella, Ricki, Jordan; many great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and numerous friends. She was predeceased by husband Aldon, parents Astrid and Jonas, sister Margaret and sons Ellwood and Aaron. Mary was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. The funeral service was held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. in the Coventry Funeral Chapel Nipawin, SK with Pastor Brian Lane officiating. Mary was laid to rest in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
