Roger better known as Gopher to us all at UC rez back in the late 80’s was one of best buds for 2yrs He loved Elliott Lake and would talk about his city every day. He was a great player of crib, backgammon, darts. We shared many pizzas together and I would listen to him amaze us all with hockey and basketball statistics. He was so knowledgeable about sports. He was a good friend. He made us laugh, often.I will miss him. My sincere condolences to all of his family. He was a good-natured soul.

I would like to express my deepest sympathies to the Hachey family for the loss of this courageous man. Roger showed the love for his community and the conviction of his heart to fight for what he believed in. I have so much respect for a man to take up that battle considering the difficult personal challenges he faced. Showing true courage and dedication for following one’s own heart and be an example to members of the community to stand up for their beliefs and try to make a difference.
