Abbey, Bonnie Lynne With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our dearest wife, mother, sister, aunty and friend Bonnie. Bonnie passed away peacefully on Saturday evening surrounded by her loving family who held her close and celebrated her kind beautiful heart until her last moments. Bonnie was born in Kenora Ontario, the daughter of Albert and Marguerite Brennan. The oldest of three children, Bonnie cherished her parents, brother Dean and sister Jill (Stelmaschuk) and enjoyed a lovely childhood growing up in Kenora. Always a good student, she completed her degree in Early Childhood Education at the University of Guelph. Bonnie met the love of her life at 14 years old and was immediately smitten. This "bad boy" Tom stole her heart and from that day the two of them grew to be inseparable. In 1973 Bonnie and Tom married and immediately set off to Calgary to start a new life together. From that first brave step, Tom and his "Bon" were soul mates until the very end. Bonnie lived for children, finding joy in teaching and helping others. She had four children of her own: Josh (Kelley), Chad (Amel), Tyler and Chelsea (Mike). Bonnie was also graced with three beautiful grandsons; Benjamin and Noah (Josh) and Rohnan (Chad). Bonnie was happiest with a house full of family and friends and a bustling kitchen overflowing with treats. Nieces, nephews and friends' children were showered with love, hugs (and baking) as if they were her own. The children she worked with all held a special place in her heart, and nothing made her happier than a hug from a teenager she'd taught 10 years earlier. Bonnie was diagnosed with dementia 15 years ago and though the disease took her memories it couldn't touch her essence. Her love and generosity continued to shine; friend and stranger alike were guaranteed to be greeted with kindness, a warm smile and a real hug. Throughout, she was supported by the unconditional love of her husband Tom and an amazing network of caregivers who became incredible friends. For those lucky enough to know her, Bonnie changed us for the better. We will miss her every day. A memorial service will be held at St. Andrews United Church in Cochrane on Saturday, January 19th at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers or cards the family requests that a donation be made in Bonnie's name to the Alzheimer's Society of Calgary.
