TOURIS, Stavroula "Stella" - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of our dear mother, wife, yiayia (grandmother) and sister on May 5, 2019 in Kingston, Ontario. She was affectionately known as Mrs. Jiffy from her days of running the original Jiffy Grill, with our father, Steve Touris from the late 1960s to the late 1980s. In retirement, she then took on her most proudest role of Yiayia to her grandsons: Turi (Chanelle), Steve (Darlene), Nikolas, Christopher and Alexander. Stella was also very proud of her two daughters: Effie and Bessie (Allen Yuen). She is also survived by her sister-in-law Mary Psimaras (late George), her nephew Dean (Heather) and niece Anne (Bob). As well as her cousin Christos (Nikki) and other family members. Stella was born on Christmas Day in 1931 in a small village in Greece. Being true to her feisty and adventurous younger self, she came to Canada by herself in 1952. While she expected her fiancé to join her, once he had completed his mandatory service in the army, she was quite prepared to lead her new life in Canada in a direction of her choosing! They married in January 1955 and were both fortunate to enjoy a good life and health until recent years. This past year has taken its toll on both of our parents and for this reason, there will only be a private family service in her honour. We are overwhelmed with grief and sorrow and appreciate your thoughts, prayers and understanding at this very difficult time for our family. We would like to thank all those who helped my mother’s last days be more comfortable and that includes the staff from Conservatory Pond, her doctors, nurses and personal support workers from various organizations and everyone who helped us through this difficult time. And those who continue to support us through our father's failing health. May her memory be eternal. Online condolences may be made at: HREF="http://www.reidfuneralhome.com">www.reidfuneralhome.com
May the wonderful memories you created over the years with your mother sustain and strengthen you as you navigate the difficult days ahead.
No one can replace a mom, but God can comfort a grieving heart. He knows what you need during this time much better than anyone else.
My deepest condolences.
My Deepest sympathy to all of you and my thoughts are with your family as you remember the treasured moments with your Mom and Grandmother.
