NIWRANSKI, Effie - was born on September 4, 1924 at Blaine Lake, Saskatchewan to Mike and Mary Romanycia. The family moved to the Sunnybrook District near Nipawin in 1930, where she attended school at Sunnybrook School. Effie married Joseph Niwranski on October 19, 1944. They were blessed with five children - Veronica, Phyllis, Nancy, Darlene and Paul. They moved into the Niwranski Homestead and began farming. In the late 1950's, Effie moved to Melfort where Joseph built them a new house. In the past year, Effie moved from Diefenbaker Place, to Chateau Providence in St. Brieux, and then to Parkland Place in Melfort. Effie was an active member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, and a long term member of the Ukrainian Women's Association of Canada. She loved spending time with her family, gardening, baking, canning, making homemade perogies, and driving her little white car. Effie is survived by one sister, Helen Obodiak; her four children, Veronica (Roy) Clough, Phyllis Niwranski, Darlene (Mark) Soetopo, Paul (Karmella) Niwranski; many grand children, nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her parents Mike and Mary Romanycia, daughter Nancy Niwranski, Husband Joseph Niwranski, sisters Annie Kozun & Mary Youzwa. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. "VICHNAYA PAMYAT" The Funeral Service for Effie was held from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of All Saints, Melfort, on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 9:30 AM with Rev. Fr. Patrick Powalinsky officiating. The interment followed in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Melfort. Friends so wishing may make memorial contributions to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of All Saints, Melfort.
