LARSEN, Phyllis Roseann (nee McAmmond) - Phyllis Roseann was born on April 29th, 1929 at Moosomin, Saskatchewan to Lambert and Gladys McAmmond, weighing a mere three and a half pounds. Her family moved to the Moose Range District in 1934, where she took her schooling, enjoyed playing baseball and worked in the local store. Phyllis married Wilbur Lorne Larsen on October 23rd, 1947. To this union were born three children: Curtis (Linda), Lyle (MaryKim), and Connie (Wayne, deceased). They built a life together with their family on the farm north of Aylsham, Saskatchewan, where they lived and worked together for over 40 years. Phyllis was very active in the farm, especially during harvest when she spent many hours operating a combine. Phyllis was an active member of her community, in Aylsham in the early years and Nipawin later in life. Phyllis was involved in the Royal Purple for over 50 years. During the winter she was an avid curler and skipped her teams into many of the local bonspiel grand challenges in the area. In the summer months Phyllis would enjoy time spent with her family and friends at the family cabin at Waskesui, which became a second home to her and Wilbur. Together they spent many enjoyable hours on the golf course, socializing with friends, and participating in the annual Lobstick Golf Tournaments. In the latter part of her life, Phyllis took many enjoyable trips with Wilbur and friends to Hawaii, Spain, and Barbados, finally settling in Mesa, Arizona for the winter months. In 2005, Phyllis moved into her condo at Riverside Manor where she developed many new friendships and renewed old acquaintances. She took an active part in the day-to-day activities there, including the hiring of cooks, decorating for holidays throughout the year, and taking on many roles from driver to caregiver to help out anyone in need. Phyllis was always up for a good game of cards, especially with her sons and grandchildren - and she rarely lost. She took incredible pride in her children and grandchildren, offering unconditional love, support, and advice. Beloved by many, Phyllis will be deeply missed by her family, her friends at Riverside Manor, and by all those who knew her. The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the Nurses, Doctors and Staff of the Nipawin Union Hospital for the care they provided in the last months of her life. Phyllis was predeceased by her parents Lambert and Gladys McAmmond, husband Wilbur Lorne Larsen, brother Lambert (Bert) McAmmond, sister-in-law Ada McAmmond, sister-in-law Linda McAmmond, half sister Verna Karakus and son-in-law Wayne Borreson. She is survived by her brother Henry (Janet) McAmmond, sons Curtis (Linda) and Lyle (MaryKim), daughter Connie, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She will be forever missed and lovingly remembered. A Family Celebration of Phyllis’s Life and an Interment will be held at a later date. Memorial Donations may be made to the Nipawin Royal Purple.
