SJOLI, Florence Marie (nee Ostlund) - Florence was born on the family farm near Simpson, SK on March 10, 1926 to parents Levi and Anna Ostlund. She enjoyed growing up on the farm with her sister and two brothers. Florence attended Normal School in Saskatoon and began teaching in a one room school house. She later moved to teach in Carrot River where she met and married John Sjoli. Florence and John had 5 children in Carrot River and in 1970 the family moved to Nipawin. Florence was an involved community volunteer, contributing to various organizations such as the Lutheran Church, Girl Guides, Rebbekas, Meals on Wheels, etc. Florence was a loving and selfless wife and mother. She was a terrific baker and hard worker, as well as one who enjoyed having a coffee and a few laughs with friends. Florence moved to Calgary in 2006 and unfortunately spent the last few years of her life living with dementia. She passed away at Father Lacombe Care Center in Calgary on Dec. 3, 2016. Florence was predeceased by her husband John in 1995, her daughter Anita in 1999, her son Adrian in 2012, and her siblings Carl and Hazel. Florence is survived by: her brother Earl (Dorthy) Ostlund of Saskatoon; her remaining children - Eric of Calgary, Rex (Karen) of Stony Plain, and Karen (Ed) Glaser of Calgary; her six grandchildren - Barrett, Adria, and Adam Greyeyes, Darien Sjoli, Rachel and Jack Glaser; as well as 9 great grandchildren, and countless other relatives and friends. Florence will be interred alongside her husband John at Hillcrest Cemetery in Saskatoon at a later date.
